I test and search and change my burner regularly, not because the old ones are defective, but because I am looking for THE perfect burner.
cheap Chinabrenner also work, but always weaken considerably in quality, durability and especially in Main point: the illumination. Points but mostly in the field of color, because there, for example 6000 K also agree nearly!
But now for Osram figurehead, the "OSRAM XENARC COOL BLUE INTENSE".
Let's go through everything, after all the burners are hyped in many forums and the latest best burner which light and color As touted.
So think for a long time, i will buy not necessarily along the lines - only brand burners are good, but rather to experience, but also their own forums, and more information is the datasheet so forth.
So I opted for the torch, he was installed in a BMW E46 in 2000 with factory Xenon headlights and Bosch. He was about 30-40 hours in operation. Briefly also in an Audi A4 B6 Year 2001 (more on that later).
Version: D2S
Packing:
Headlights come in a visually appealing and high quality Plastikblister. At first glance, the name is mentioned "Cool Blue Intense" and the 5500K (here is in small print "up to" - ie "up to").
Feel:
At first, and even second glance, the burners are high-quality. Welds are clean, Flask and base have clean edges, the ceramic tubes dyed evenly. Thus act wertig what was actually to be expected with a brand burner OSRAM.
So schonmal a star for the visual appearance!
Installation:
Impeccable and easy, but this is more due to headlights and vehicle, as the product itself.
First try:
Built joyfully started uuuund .... the first disappointment is spreading. The light is not nearly blue, as the name suggests and the imprint. The light is clearly visible as yellow, not a bit blue.
Ok, xenon burner always need some "baking time", at least it used to be like that. Today, the torch change over "Burn-in" not so extreme.
Since I was very disappointed OSRAM has received a first mail. Here I was put off and pointed out that the burners are tested and delivered from the factory with at least 5000K and again "Stain" within 12 hours. So there left and run a few hours (a total of almost 2,000 km by light always on).
And indeed, the light color changed a little. But from a pure white, what I expect at 5000K, or even a blue cast, which is to be expected at 5500K no trace.
The light was indeed white, but still has a visible yellow tinge.
So very clearly: Anyone looking for a pure-white torch with blue cast and can be misled by the name to think that this was the case here: very clear NO!
Illumination:
The illumination is quite good, but worse than a normal xenon burner. A look at the packaging clearly shows that this is also the part of OSRAM seen so. On the back you can see that the illumination is slightly worse than before (Of course, compared to NEW NEW). For the color light blue vieeeel / is white.
CONCLUSION:
Here a lot of advertising is done and promised things that just are not right. Anyone looking for a pure-white xenon burner, or even bluish, is wrong here. For besides the beautiful advertising promises this is not the case.
Who does not want to believe, should study the time sheet to the burner on the OSRAM page. There it soon becomes clear that the burner is actually "only" has 4800K, which corresponds to a white light with rest yellow. Such is exactly the case.
Pity! Brenner went back disappointed!
