I will stop there. I have a DX camera and use it like the AF-S 35 / 1.8. Only this is a bit short if you want to take people. A favorable 85 / 1.8 with AF engine does not exist for DX and also limit a 85mm back a mighty. 50mm are neither fish nor fowl and therefore particularly well suited for universal use. You can use it just taking indoor shots, yet is already long enough for portraits. (50mm to 75mm DX correspond to small picture) My copy is focused exactly (no front or back focus) and is very sharp, even to the edge, even at maximum aperture. The bokeh is nice and soft, at f1.8 the highlights are a bit like cat eyes, beautiful round at f2.2 and f4 from they are easily 7-square. But everything in the framework, and better than other lenses. Terms of quality, the AF-S 50 / 1.8 looks a bit better than the AF-S 35 / 1.8. The manual focus ring has some play before he reaches, but that does not bother me. The AF is not a racehorse, but looks similar to the AF-S 35 or the AF-S 16-85, so perfectly adequate for such a lens. Distortion of DX is negligible. The highlights appear filled, which makes the "out-of-focus blur" for peace. (Also see the images) The fact that the front lens lies deep in the housing, it also comes from without the supplied lens hood. This makes the combination with a small DX camera even handier. Ideal for mood pictures in low light without a flash with beautiful exemption. For the price and what you get for it is worth it to me clearly 5 star.
