FIRST IMPRESSION AND SETTING UP:
The Tefal Actifry is enormous. It comes in a huge box and takes when setting up a almost half the stove half. Included with the device, including scoops, illustrated Quick Start Guide is not text (so-called. Quick Guide) and a recipe "book" which contains 12 recipes.
I guess only time to fill the unit about halfway with water and 2x to operate for about 15 minutes with water. It developed a very strong smell of plastic, which has not disappeared with me after 2 days and multiple use.
The body is made entirely of plastic. The bowl of silicate. Stirrer and Fettsieb consist partly of plastic. The cable is about 90 cm long. Everything seems neat processed and high quality.
MANUAL:
In principle, the device is self-explanatory. A look at the recipes is enough to get ideas and to experiment using the Quick Guides with the hot air fryer. However, I would have just wanted some advice for newcomers in the use of the device. For example, the previous Apply with water, tips for food preparation, etc. For a device in the price range a bit meager.
OPERATION AND COOKING
The operation is very simple: put the plug in and give the food (eg frozen french fries) in the oven. Close the lid and set the time. Done. The appliance heats up automatically to 150 ° C and switches off after the set time again. During cooking the food using the agitator is moving slowly.
The stirrer can also omit to prepare eg Schnitzel or dates with bacon. Full odorless, it does not go in the preparation of French fries. If you set the device, however, under the hood, the smell keeps very limited. With a conventional fryer in any case no comparison!
RESULTS:
The fries are Actyfry after about 15-20 minutes even. They are crispy outside and soft inside. Perfect!
CLEANING:
Bowl, stirrer, measuring spoon and Fettsieb can be fine in the dishwasher, and then look like new. The complete body is washed off with a soft cloth and a little detergent.
DIFFERENCE FOR PHILIPS Airfryer:
Negatives:
- Takes up more space
- Made entirely of plastic, which unfortunately also smells
- Contains no screen where you can with bacon "floating" cook eg chicken wings or dates. Although this is in removing the agitator also, but the food here is practically in its own juice. When screening solution of Airfryers dripping excess fat in the Garwanne.
-teurer
-very lean manual, lean recipe book
-längere cooking time (about 20 minutes for fries compared to 12-15 at Philips Airfryer)
-no possibility of temperature selection
Neutral:
- Approximately the same capacity (750g fries)
- Both of which are easy to clean and dishwasher safe Garwannen
Positives:
- The Actyfry looks very futuristic
MY CONCLUSION:
I had the choice, I would clearly pick up the equipment from Philips, although you also can not go wrong with the Actifry. It works perfectly. That my device still smells even after two days and repeated benefits always plastic, does not have to be so for each device. However, it bothers me a lot.
The advantages of the Philips device outweigh: shorter cooking time, no plastic smell, possibility of temperature selection.
Frankly to me but the significant additional cost of Actifry not obvious.
And finally one more tip:
Who wants to use frozen fries, take the best oven-fries. These already contain fat. Fryers-fries are dry and need to prepare as well as fresh potatoes adding oil.
