I can not comment about the app and the reliability of the alarm function - as long as I did not have the equipment. It is positive that you do not need the app, both music playback as well as alarm function with the standard tools of the iPhone.
Positive is also the design and also the Lighting feature I liked.
However, the unit for another reason completely disqualified as a bedside alarm clock - for which there is obviously intended due to the nice ambient lighting (switched off) and the Leuchtuhr. Once the iPhone is plugged in, the audio signal is amplified to the LS. This can not be disabled. That is, when I plug in the evening with the iPhone gestelltem alarm clock, the speakers roars all night. Granted, it's hardly noticeable, but since - so you can live at a pinch. Moreover, it came but every few minutes to interference or noise (these noise typical of mobile phones near audio equipment, everyone knows them ...), which are then output via the loudspeaker. And this is not at all in the bedroom.
Schön would be an automatic on / off function, which until a certain level at the analog input signal turns the LS. The additional cost of a few cents for the relay would nevertheless be well to cope but at a price of 70 euros for a speaker with very mediocre sound quality and a few LEDs? Oh, I forgot the royalties to Apple for the dock connector. That probably explains the price policy ...
