Without too much away to want to survive at the end of a only by outside help. The real hero of the film is in my opinion not the Americans, only the prowess is treated as a minor point. A real highlight is not done. Instead, it is shown for the most part, as the glorious Americans the Taliban almost eternally long offer resistance. True heroism is only a side note. The shootout between the Americans and Taliban is in the foreground. While it is also addressed the issue of international law in the film, but as shown in the further course, that this was what pacifists only. In war, it is better to gun down any threat - at least at this conclusion can one come when watching the movie. So it's not even an anti-war film, but simply a film in which it is geballert.
Moreover, the film is also illogical. Only the soldiers run away from the fight with helmets through the forest. When the fight comes then, the soldiers are prepared for it, but they do not have helmets on. Instead, wear ridiculous hats sun, which of course are absolutely the right choice for a firefight. Moreover, the Americans rush down several steep slopes and rocky outcrops. Sometimes they pop this headlong on rock and subsoil. One crashing with his back against a tree - but they survive all this falls with a few broken bones. No one, not even an American elite soldier survived such falls headlong on stone, or does not break the backbone. Say, even if all this seems very glorious and violent, it is pure spectacle and may not reflect reality, even if the film is to be based "on a true story".
Therefore, and because I was not clear in the first place, what the director wanted to convey a message, I can not abgewinnen especially much of the film. I think there are better war films. One can look at it, but compared to similar films I found this here just okay.
