I have installed it contrary to the description in an iMac mid 2011. Again, it performs its duties technically absolutely perfectly. It is recognized by the computer, and seamlessly integrated into the system. So you can use with the support of 3rd party software and BluRay on Mac. Of course, it also does an external BluRay drive, but it's better on the desk. And as long as I use the 2011 Mac, I do not want to miss the advantages of an internal drive.
Unfortunately, and therefore probably also comes the lack of compatibility with the 2011 Mac, it has a collection very "deep". Means that the CD / DVD / BluRay must be very far inserted before the draw takes and transports the disc inside. As in the 2011 iMac still a "Dust" and a frame between the drive and the housing, you will not make it without assistance (long fingernails, another CD, plastic piece as plectrum or similar) the CD / DVD / BluRay appeal. The ejection does support.
I'll buy another one of these drives for my MacBook Pro, which is also available on the compatibility list and see if it is in the deep collection is a fundamental property, or there is a kind series dispersion here.
