Here, the headset connects via USB and requires no additional installation in use "classical" stereo headset. However, it will install the Logitech driver to enjoy the headphone capabilities, particularly Surround (deactivated) in video games, for which this headset is specifically designed.
Side finish, it's a great helmet that looks solid, comfortable, with a 3 m cable resistant (woven coat) and a USB connector that risk anyway not much compared to the fragile mini jack connectors. Various attentions can be reported, such as folding microphone that automatically disables a stowed shortcut keys on the left atrium (including very easy volume adjustment) or additional headband pads (3 thicknesses to choose) ; this is welcome. The helmet is very comfortable, the weight is reasonable, however, it happens that the helmet eventually slip back, pity ...
The headphones are closed type, and if it helps to isolate very effectively in games and movies for total immersion, it is also potentially embarrassing to use the voice chat headset. Indeed, one does not hear naturally, it's pretty disturbing even after several weeks of use. High precision, it is possible to activate a microphone audio back through the headset (I had not seen initially, we must look in the Windows audio options), volume is adjustable, it partially alleviates the problem. On this point, an open helmet (or at least not as isolating as this one) seems clearly preferable.
From a strictly audio standpoint, the rendering is a fairly good quality, but many lack the helmet neutrality. Certainly this is not a hi-fi headset, and it does not matter much in games or even in films (the opposite.) The graphic equalizer built into the software provided by Logitech allows to partially correct this defect. The microphone works very well and almost breathless. I have to suffer through against a very discreet shrill whistle, when the microphone is active or capable of being (by launching Skype for example), and only on a listener. Unable to get rid of the problem is yet known for years and seems fairly widespread if I believe what you read on the net. The only partially effective solution is to reduce sampling the microphone recording, this reduces the phenomenon. But it's hard enough to degrade the overall impression I have of this helmet.
