I mittlerweilse performed with the patched version multiple backups of my netbook on a 16GB USB flash drive, they were all ok.

It is important however to make before the USB flash drive bootable, this does not happen automatically 'make bootable media' when creating the backup by clicking on the option. So, unfortunately, still an error in Acronis.
