The archives of France are asked for their backups a study on the best media to use. To my surprise, the descending order is: magnetic tape, hard discs and Blu-Ray as the best. And in these blank Blu-Ray, Panasonic and Sony are far ahead. Panasonic exceeds 2,000 hours in an oven (80 °, 80% humidity), Sony's 1750 hours. Verbatim (which is more than the hombre brand since the takeover by Indians) does not exceed 250 hours. When BD-R LTH (because there are two type BD-R disc, the LTH are "organic" like CD-R) does not stand the test altogether.
So in short, not as good as the Panasonic, but great for backups.
See the test on PCWorld "The longevity of BD-R tested."
