Harvest, Harvest Moon and Silver & Gold. The softer side of Neil Young. Folk & Country. By his own admission Harvest Moon Youngs is weiblichstes album, probably not only because of the three backup singers Linda Ronstadt, Nicolette Larson and Astrid Young, but also because women like hymns to search a woman, You and me and Harvest Moon. As on Harvest Neil Young is accompanied on this album by the Stray Gators. But unlike on Harvest there are no surprises, either for good with rock songs (Words, Alabama), still worse (symphonic bombast). It is a homogeneous, quite a bit boring album, if you prefer more of Young albums like Rust Never Sleeps and Weld. An album to light candles on full moon nights. My favorites are War of you, From Hank to Hendrix and the pleasantly kitschy search a woman. Not a bad album, but Comes A Time is much better, thanks to more interesting and more beautiful melodies texts. Who to Harvest the ugly reality in songs like The needle and the damage done (drugs) and Alabama (racism) destroyed the whole romance, which will be happier with Harvest Moon, even if there are no exploits as Old man or Heart of gold here , but rock solid songs. 3.5 Stars
