After I have found that there are a few frightening analog timer that the sensible do what they should, I decided for a digital timer. The timer functions reliable but is terribly noisy.

I have the device unceremoniously screwed, pulled the speakers out of the holder, pasted it with scotch tape and assembled the device again. Now the volume is fine. Even without screwing can manipulate the volume with some tape on the speaker hole.

The display is very large and the operation could not be easier. I would buy this timer again.
