The tracks in detail:
1) "Here I am again," was already released as Singe and therefore known. Strongly reminiscent of "Sido" the predecessor "Aggro Berlin" and pierces both lyrically and technically beat out a little: Sido occurs here unusually provocative for the album. One could at the time still think it was going in the direction of "I" or "I & my mask" - but the rest of the album is no longer like that. Overall, however, a very strong track: 5/5 stars.
2) "Once upon a time" is then also immediately, the new direction of the plate before: Sido describes his past and makes it clear that this is Sido passé. Who wants to have the old Sido, will not come here at his own expense. I think it's important for his many listeners from the very beginning that he agrees and reveals why the new songs go in a different direction. Perhaps it understands yes as one or the other more that the masked man is just past. Nevertheless, the song has a lot of rap attitude and Sido, who explained his new direction in an old way. A very good song, 5 of 5 stars.
3) "The way you" is me personally too monotonous. The fact that every verse ends with the same words, and thus almost no rhymes are present, the song for me seems uncreative, monotonous and sometimes annoying. Lyrically the song just seems then clapped unloving and not fit for me also to the rest of the album. Therefore, unfortunately, only 1/5 star.
4) In "Daddy what are you doing" is the first time something provocative Sido and counted this among others from media / journalists. All this is, however, highlighted by a pretty melodic and slow beat, instead of aggressiveness of the song rather mediated by melancholy. In addition, the song plays mostly in the past, so that the few provocative passages in a retrospective construed. At the same time provides Sido again clear that the old days are gone, and he wants to be a role model now. I like the track very well overall => 5/5 stars
5) "Somewhere someone waiting" is one of only two songs that are vocally supported by Mark Forster, the one or the other may know by the Kurt Krömer show. Lyrically it is about the desperate search for the right partner. I like the hook surprisingly better than the verse. Mark Forster's voice in my ears harmonizes very well with the beat in the verse proves Sido finally back light approaches his usual ironic and witty Rapart. A song of this type you are looking at the predecessors in vain. Underlines once more the new direction taken with Sidos mainsteamigeren beats and hooks sung. Again, I find, however, that it is simply very well done. Therefore, again 5/5 stars.
6) For the first time on this album, it is hectic, restless and little melodic the song "Enrico". The beat could also come from the Balkans.
At the moment I do not know what to make of this song. Poor I do not find him, but he does not really fit into the structure of the album at times and has great potential to annoy me after a short time. Therefore, subject to 2 out of 5 stars.
7) "One has to do it" is its predecessor in terms of hustle in little after, this song also sometimes seems restless. The Beat rippling slightly in front of him, here was for my taste for improvement. Also lyrically Sido describes a times more stories of various people, like it has already happened at "eye" in "downhill" or on Sidos predecessors. Skipping I do not have this track, but it is for me rather than stopgap hit. It lacks both melodically and lyrically that certain something. Again 3 of 5 stars.
8) Who Helge Schneider knows, really knows already what it "work" expected the title. Since there is probably no middle ground; Either you like it or you will find it terrible. Let's see how the Sido fan community takes this song mainly ...
The verse I personally find quite funny, from the chorus you might have a little more to do. The Helge Schneider typical trumpet Should not be beat, of course. All in all runs of this song but also great danger of nerves quickly. Whether text and musical arrangement on this album fit to be seen. Mir breaks Sido too often the previously announced mature, adult and respectable album and falls too often in the slapstick. Overall, however, still a decent song, so 4 out of 5 stars.
9) "One of these stones" is then single number 2 with Mark Forster and was indeed also already released. Lyrically and vocally is ultra-soft, underpins the whole through a very slow and quiet beat. Who remembers back old albums will find that this tendency to feelings has always been present (eg in "Heart" or "Part of me"). Although this track is all certainly drives to the extreme, it is not really surprising and new for Sido. I think he's really more than successful, and see it as an absolutely great declaration of love to his wife with much sadness and especially gratitude. At this point I feel the first time what Sido means when he speaks of a newly won by maturity. Again harmonize Sido and Mark Forster very well, so I can imagine other projects with the two very well. 5 of 5 stars.
10) deals with "love" - surprise - the love and its effects on Sido. What bothers me is this high, distorted and too often repeated word "love" in the song. Again, I start with the little beat, that was on the old albums actually very rarely the case. 11) "Masquerade" makes use Genetikks beat of "Champions", although this was slightly modified. It's no coincidence that Genetikk featureN here and complete with Marsimoto the quartet of the Masked. Rumor Cro should also get a part here. For whatever reason, but which did not materialize, I do not know. I'm the original beat of "Champions" significantly more ear, this one looks like a rather lukewarm Preserve. Both Marsimoto and Genetikk address the typical issues for them.
In summary, a solid to good track, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
12) In the song "Without Borders", the Marius Müller-Westernhagen vocally support, is about freedom and nonexistent boundaries. Unlike in Western Hagens last albums (eg Williamsburg) he sounds in this song for me again relatively soulful and strong - like me! Overall, the song sounds rounded and well harmonierend, but to take as 100% it does not me => 4 out of 5 stars.
13) "Feel free" sounds too much like cheap pop and patch pseudo-moral texts. Here in my opinion it lacks much: verbal wit, Flow, rousing tune - in short: It simply lacks the special charm. Unfortunately, only 2 out of 5 stars.
14) "30-11-80" recalls the many individual guest Parts in nature sharply Kool Savas' "Proof 2", but it tops my opinion by far. I like the mix of rappers different directions outstanding, so include both Lakman and Smudo as a representative of the old school as well as newcomers like Blood & Checkout on the song. Every rapper embodied a typical for him part. Except for Olli Banjo, is probably something went wrong in the production at its Part, I like this from very well. The best song on the album for me, and especially the title, would the "old" Sido fans come closest. Also from Beat ago you get (compared to the other songs of the album) most likely what you would expect at Rap / HipHop. Clear 5 of 5 stars!
Conclusion:
Who still calls today that Sido again put on the mask and on old themes centimes to, has not understood its development. Sido is consciously adopting new forms, with the old Sido he closes already in Title 2 "Once upon a time" from. This was announced exactly and is therefore a logical step in the musical development of the Paul Worthy. This should be, no matter how much you liked the old songs, give a fair chance. With this album Sido will certainly win many new fans and increasing frequency appear on the radio. "30-11-80" presents itself lyrically little provocative, musical soft in many areas. Instead of the old features aggro companions or Harris can now be found just Mark Forster, Helge Schneider or Marius Müller-Westernhagen.
For my taste Sido has the next step in his career, however, very well done. The three pre-release singles ("30-11-80", "Here I am again," and "One of these stones") I liked all of them very good, as the intro "Here I am again"
Unfortunately the album for my taste but also has 2-3 filler and below-average songs that clouds the overall impression a bit. More courage and variety I would have liked at the beats - that I know of Sido much better!
Overall, a logical career move, I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
