First there was this idea with the label which is to hold together the box - what he does about three times before it no longer sticks. The idea is really something else, but haperts during execution. It's the same with the album: There are interesting innovations, Björk sounds extroverted (and - Track 9 - explosive), but this idea does not need a successor and is in some places a little too boring.
The second commonality between cover and song material: On all albums by Björk, there has been a design concept, which was consistent. All of a sudden she now presents two distinct ideas ("Björk in plastic" and "Björk as savages in the fire," I call them times) that compete against each other, both are nice but do not really fit together. To Album: Beat-heavy tracks stand beside quiet pieces, some of which have even less structure than "Drawing Restraint 9" or "Medúlla".
Why? That Björk is versatile, it has proved but a Björk album should form a unit in my eyes.
These criticisms are still to get over, and might have given 4 stars, which you would have had an average Björk album. But what is still a real shame is the fact that many melodies and pieces sound very arbitrary. I like to sum "Jóga", "Isobel" and sometimes even "Hidden Place" or "Oceania" of their previous albums, but with "I see who you are" or "My Juvenile" will be very difficult!
Conclusion: Björk is still Björk and it is still an impressive sound artist. "Earth Intruders" is really great and tears with a, well, "Declare Independence" (you can not see the play as seriously as the text suggests, that was at the beginning of my mistake)! The component that is added by male vocals on "The Dull Flame of Desire" and "My Juvenile", their style is good - of which more please. Wind ensembles can also arrange nice although my Homogenic Björk-with strings and the Vespertine- and medulla-Björk liked better with choirs.
The album is often successful, but you can not listen as many times as its predecessor, and the exaggerated artificiality of previous works is a style that I'd like to see on their next album.
