I have the Philips in the 40-inch version (40pfl6606k) and myself, in light of the past few days deteriorating reviews (which I think also irrelevant hochgeradig mostly), then forced to let go my two cents to the device.
When I had a look at the device and ransacked reviews I was doing in the first place while a new television. Accordingly were my demands on a new device
1) good picture (HD as well as SD-especially analog cable)
2) good sound -is shocking in many new devices par excellence
3) Optics
In all three Pukten the device meets my needs.
Thus, the HD image is terrific, as are DVDs (BlueRay I have not). Analogue TV looks good, but not comparable to the first two versions.
But what bothered me from the beginning was an effect I could not place zunächt. Some broadcasts or DVDs the people were so keen that everything looked very different artificial (cheap) and also the soundtrack did not fit exactly. Then had the feeling to see a cheap soap opera. After some searching on the net I have then this effect actually elicit "soap opera effect" means and then comes about if newer devices run an "interframe" which is supposed to improve the image. At Philips I had only on Home / configuration and have there the entry disabled (PixelPlusHD / HD Natural Motion). After that, everything was as I have wished.
The colors are good, excellent sharpness. I have a rich black levels and similar no Clouding
The sound of the unit is good, partly can be described in as "tired" and perfectly adequate for me. With an external speaker system, the whole is not comparable.
Visually, the good piece what forth, is nice and flat and looks good. The televisions are stable on the glass pedestal.
Otherwise, there are several settings regarding picture and sound in which for all what should be there. Personally, I have left the unit, inter alia, in power saving mode, the other versions are just too glaring.
Setting up the TV has asked me before no problems.
I find the menu quite simple and self-explanatory, the more there is a good "Text tool" in the device itself. Only the sort of transmitter after the scan was a bit annoying that makes it but also not every day.
A manual is not in, only a "Quick Start Guide". The online documentation is very good.
After I was taken through the setup mode, the device an update loaded quite fast.
The applications of the NET TV since all work, some of them are functional but also partly just Spielrei. The image quality is very good and I am assuming that these offers are specially prepared and therefore not 1: 1 comparable with the Internet offerings are.
The "open browser" is funny, but comes quickly to its limits. Here there is no Flash Player support, etc. which indeed is clear.
Who wants to have a "Media Center" is well served simply to connect their own PC to your TV (HDMI or VGA) to connect a wireless mouse + wireless keyboard and off goes the whole ...... the rest is all gimmick.
The much maligned remote control I can say anything negative. After a week of "training" is everything OK. I manage to hit the buttons and understand the fuss about this not really.
The recording via I-Net I did not try and can not evaluate them accordingly.
The only thing I have not yet succeeded, it is to integrate PCs into the TV and to stream data from there. Have 64 bit on my Netbook Win7 Home and the media player is started, everything but released examine the appliance and examined ...... but good that I do not need really.
All in all, convinced me the equipment according to my needs and I do not regret the purchase. Otherwise, I recommend always to have a demonstration of the machine in the store, a little time playing around, etc., that allows everyone to shop like you and creates so the best / own image. I would personally reviews the grade the televisions for secondary properties by more than 1 point does not take seriously.
In my view, a strong buy recommendation at a reasonable price.
