Metro Redux is a compilation of the two Metro titles (Metro 2033 only on Xbox 360) was released and the PC previously individually on the old consoles. What has already been mentioned here by many is that the games really look very good and are aggregated with a lot of work to an appropriate level for the current generation of consoles. In particular, the lighting effects of the flashlights of opponents who are incredibly well done against a light.
The living stations of the Metro are a real highlight in the gaming area. It is not just in empty cities but at every turn to entertain people, children are entertained or it will be delivered a sad news that someone has not done it again out of the tunnels. The story has some nice twists and motivated by, particularly for the Light to continue playing. Unfortunately, this really positive aspects by some technical mistakes are greatly affected part. In this I will focus my review. I like the game, but a lot of praise from other reviews would then only repeat.
The surround sound is in my opinion, unfortunately, very bad mixed. One notices in particular the fact that when a person is faced with a and is not quite in the center of the image, its dialogues, either be played on the left or right speakers, just because the NPC fluctuates slightly from left to right. So there is a very unnatural listening experience because the person is still right in front of one. These often come in volume. A person directly in front of a standing 1m is lower level than the interlocutor of this person who is 10 meters, etc. These errors then also pull up in the action part of the game continued. So it's not really quite possible to locate opponents by his hearing. Perhaps I find the simple but particularly on since I last played Alien insulation on the PS4 and here actually never used the Moto Intra Shrouded because you could always almost perfectly determine the position of aliens with the hearing.
Often also in the metro systems remain the interesting discussions of the residents of the stations at high volume to the rear speakers, while again gets main quest-input from the beginning. Unfortunately, you have therefore consistently do subtitles, as the game of those deficiencies otherwise can hardly convey his story entirely, because you would simply miss dialogues because they are mixed so low.
Also not optimal is the behavior of the mutant enemies. Simply hit alternately with the left and right paw on a one and remind myself slightly carnival performances, as they alternate this from the left bounce on right leg. As soon as one was hit one also has no real hits feedback so that you wonder if you were ever beaten and whether the impact of the left, came right or rear.
Is also questionable why the opponents do not see it when you rumfuchtelt with a laser sight on the face.
Minor flaws in my opinion are some decisions that were taken during synchronization. All voice actors speak with a fitted Russian accent. In addition, talks Artyom, the main character, while emissions not. The nice introduced NPCs ask him then things and although an answer would probably be longer, the NPC's react within 3 nanoseconds to the alleged response of Artyom. While the incredible fast loading sequences (very commendable), Artyom speak but then and indeed while Metro 2033 with the voice of the RTL broadcasting program speaker (Tonight at RTL) and during Last Light with the dubbing voice of a felt 50 years, said Artyom but actually a young man is. Here I would have liked that Artyom speaks during missions and one shows less loading sequences as these, unfortunately, a little compromise the immersion.
Unfortunately, I have also experienced in the short time (2033 6h 7h Last Light) some bugs. This all occurred only at Last Light. Once opponents remained firmly in their place like statues stand and if you then assassinating remained one hang themselves on the site. The same thing happened at another location and the opponents were, so to speak stationary turrets that did not move but shot down balls. Three times I had to because of entanglement in the game world (could not move me) Refresh the memory state and at a gescripten boss fight early squeezed me this, so I was stuck under under the boss. The dragged me then through the area and then kill me after about 2 minutes Rumgehampel.
Conclusion:
Metro Redux is an affordable shooter / Schleicher with a great story and a good atmosphere. Unfortunately, the craft flaws are clearly visible. Nevertheless, I recommend this game like to continue, as it is sometimes a nice change from the monotony shooter. However, it is not the masterpiece that some people see in these games, at least for me.
