To make the settings you need to access the OSD menu of the amp, so you unplugged ALL your HDMI cable then:
1) Connect the analog output of the amplifier to the analog input of your TV using a yellow RCA cable.
2) Start the amplifier and TV.
3) Turn your TV on analog.
4) Press the "receiver" of the amp's remote surrounded by a white rectangle and press the home button. This manipulation will bring up the OSD menu on the screen of your TV.
5) In the OSD menu the only important settings you have to do is declare all your speakers "small" in the "speakers settings" section (this is already the default) then declare the speaker-distance in the spectator section "speakers distance" (the default is 3m). Equip yourself a meter and ask a friend to help take the exact measurements.
Now let's talk hardware with the description of speaker kit, the subwoofer S-22W-P (passive) surprised me because it is of good quality, it has a good phase control which is rare on a box of 'entry level. The center speaker, responsible for restoring the dialogue, is well made, satellites s-11a in turn are correct but are not miraculous (it remains on the small entry-satellites).
At listening, the bass and mids are well defined, wherever fishing kit is to treble that are not quite present but this is not surprising because this system does not have tweeters dedicated. This kit performs well in home theater use, the scenes with lots of bass and sub-bass like fighting the blu-ray transformers are punchy, surround is nice. Of course, this entry kit does not allow audiophile music use. If you need a home theater kit also allowing use audiophile music you will pay four times the price of this kit with such an amp Denon AVR-X2000 and speaker kit focal little bird or 5.1 Focal sib & CUB3.
In conclusion, it is in front of an entry kit with a good price / quality ratio that sends the carpet all economic kits with integrated amp and the sound bars. I recommend this kit for people on a budget wanting to take a first step in the home theater experience, certainly you will not have the performance of a kit for 250 to 1200 but the benefit is more than honest and it will hard to beat at this price. The only major complaint I have to be issued to Pioneer regarding the low quality accessories, including speaker cables are passable frankly, I have replaced the W150 Norstone. On the remote control, unintuitive and poor bill, I replaced with the logitech harmony 650 which also controls all my TV environment.
Hoping to have helped.
