There are many opinions on this subject very and sometimes something strange reviews. So here's my attempt to give you a small flight over the world the venturi decanter.
The current supplied DECANTERS
=======================
The finished product is a "Magic Decanter", manufacturers not apparent. It is made of acrylic (= plastic), so far I can not see any glass variant. It works perfectly and has a sufficiently large-dimensioned filling opening for the wine. The Venturi effect is clearly perceptible - acoustically and taste. In addition, there is still a small strainer on top of the pack to filter out residues in wine such. B. Weinstein / the depot. Therefore, at this point full marks to the products offered here.
To the Venturi principle
==================
The principle is as simple as well as effective: The wine produced by flowing through the flow a negative pressure, through two side vents air is thus sucked. It comes to the turbulence of air and wine. This wine gets rapidly much air contact.
WHY a venturi decanter?
==============================
This is also simple: Because it's easier.
I own a beautiful classic glass decanter of WMF when I decant it wine, which takes about 1 hour. Then I have to think about how much wine I supposed to ever want to drink with my friends. Is the wine prematurely all, you have to wait an hour again. And then rinsing the next day! The streak-free drying of something special decanter form is frankly for me a nightmare!
With a venturi decanter that looks like this: friends come as a surprise - make a bottle of good wine, and give to the decanter each glass separately - done. In between, set the decanter easily in the (bottom sealed -> he may quietly drop) supplied stand. If another bottle required that is absolutely no problem. Cleaning: leave once through water and as a normal glass wipe.
THE TASTE
==============
As with any decanter of taste effect of wine to wine is different. Overall, however, it is recommended usually always to decant a wine. Here the Venturi decanter has a distinct advantage: You can per glass decide whether you want to decant! From the decanter power I'd felt subjectively give the conventional decanter with 1 hour time preference, closely followed by Venturi.
PIRACY / COPIES
===============
First of all, some 1-star reviews is spoken of plagiarism / copies. For this you have to know one thing: The Venturi (! Not with i but with e second) principle comes from the physicist Giovanni Battista Venturi, who lived from 1746 to 1822. The company or the product "V_i_nturi" has a similar name. Caution likelihood of confusion (whether that is possibly intended by the manufacturer, I leave to the judgment of the reader).
A unique Vinturi plagiarism would be a venturi decanter with the "V" of Vinturi plan, which was not produced by the manufacturer. That there should be. How the case is with a patent relating to the shape, unfortunately eludes my knowledge, the principle itself can not be protected in any case.
WARNING: There are actually some clumsy reverse engineering, but you can quickly recognize: Only if the vents are laterally and they clearly and consistently hear the "air-slurping" while pouring everything fits. The black rubber ring for holding must be located to the lower third of the decanter. Forget decanter with "Seven air" or air intake from above (... that's where you need to pour the wine ...), which can not function properly.
