Opinion
A stand-alone with a promising premise of an author, which I guess for her great World Buildung, plus a beautiful Cover no wonder that I have the book ordered me directly for release. When I started reading and reading about nanobots, I immediately had to think of the classic game "Bioshock". In Ella's world everyone has a cufflink, with which it is permanently connected to the Internet and can control the nanobots in the body, allowing for impressive visualizations etc.. I really liked how natural technology is integrated into the everyday life of the characters and how they deal with it, of course.
This fascination has also over the first chapter carried because large up to Ellas love for her mother does not seem much at first knowing about happen, even if it is exciting to explore this new world and the possibilities of Reverie. But after the events have started rolling, it is built increasingly exciting and it is on the preparatory work. The technology is not only a science fiction painting, but plays an important role in the course of the plot. I really liked the love story that has kept discreetly in the background and at the same time greatly contributed to the progress of action. It's nice when the protagonist puts other things in the first place. Nevertheless, there was a very great scenes. With progressive action it is increasingly difficult to put the book down until there is a really thrilling showdown, which takes up much again.
A downside, however, is that the more I think about the story, the more breaks and inconsistencies fall on me. Confused at the beginning especially the timing, I wonder towards the end the question, what secret has now sought precisely. In general, the conclusion was very impressive, but the longer I analyze it, the more technical monuments catch my eye. A simultaneous advantage and disadvantage is also that the act is adopted geographically and by persons closely ago: So we learn the characters very well know and also their hometown, but we know next to nothing about the rest of the world.
Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun and I read the book a few days in reading. Beth Revis has been able to continuously increase the voltage and always make Ella shocking discoveries until it comes to a showdown, it has numerous twists into itself. I would have been very happy to find out more about this future world, but I found the conclusion nevertheless very satisfactory.
Conclusion
An exciting dystopia with science fiction elements, which unfortunately sometimes falters in story logic.
