XCOM is back, finally with a worthy remake. Unfortunately, given away Firaxis in some places potential. Fun it trotzem, motviert I was until the very end and this game is a candidate to be played through to platinum. (If I find the time.)

Now a few comments:
- Scientists and engineers are resolved pathetic. You can not hire this, but gets them from the protected States (monthly) or as a reward for successful missions. Increase research laboratories only speed, workshops bring a resource bonus. But at the long end has always enough staff, it comes by itself, you just have to survive long enough.
- The money ... ey Firaxis, the game is over 16, because you can deal with larger numbers. But guns for 130 credits, a spaceship in the direction, a ten per soldier when hiring. Are you crazy? What an atmosphere killer. As head of the unit XCOM my ego wants to be stroked and like to also spend millions of dollars that I get from the States to fight off the alien threat reasonable. Instead, I get from Germany per month 100 credits. Honestly, in real life I pay more income tax per month ... that has nothing to do with console-friendly, because you have to enter any numbers that whole game not know what that is, the 4-digit Beschrönkung on sums? (My monthly budget achieved in the late stage of the game almost legendary 2,000 credits !!!) So for the price of this game of about 50 euros you can in XCOM universe hire 5 soldiers. I think the absurdity has become clear.
- The control is incredibly intuitive for a strategy / Wirtschaftsmix Console game. Compliment (no, no irony!). One misses the PC mouse even once. (A mistake has struck me: The rejection of an error message, if you want to save but do not may be, clicked away with "x" would be better "o" have been, but otherwise super ergonomics.)
- The graphics are absolutely reasonable, useful, pretty to look at. In such a game, moreover, not the core criterion. XCOM-base, which is built on four floors in the earth, I have degrees in the beginning (and later when a new building was) always viewed with great pleasure.
- Well, yet again not just good: It's right through quickly. While this ensures that even for erachsene player with smaller time budget a Spieldruchgang is feasible and consistently motivating. But there is no comparison with the past, as it has brought down dozens of UFOs in "Terror from the Deep". I had stormed the first innings about 12 UFOs, plus 4 terrorist operations and half a dozen Council missions. This is not much and because I belong already not the most efficient group of players, so if I compare myself here with the other reviews.
- Firaxis should really view the Civilization principle, where you can decide on the number of trains, how long does a game. That would be transferable to XCOM, the pace of getting through depends crucially on the speed of research for priority orders and how quickly a tapering staff.
- The Fight: The new two-train logic has charm, I admit. But she has weaknesses: Why my soldier does not stop when he sees an alien, so I might still be able to redirect? Why can run and shoot, but do not shoot and then run yet? I think the basic principle for successful, it needs fine-tuning. (I hope yes on more games like this ...)
- Tactical Depth: XCOM has nowhere near the depth of the classics from the 90s. It is limited to a few options, but I've found for me: Even the already makes for tactical options and a satisfying feeling when a "plan works". It may be very limiting that you can only carry one object per soldier, but that this restriction makes suddenly the supporters unit interesting that gets a second inventory specialist from a certain rank. The approach to sacrifice realism to instead a few, to get clear options for action and to use them properly, is fine. Then XCOM EU has just not pretend to yourself that you can change as before for each squatting, turning, up, weapon ... consumed any movement points. It provides the way for a very smooth gaming experience. One must never expect "rich movement points still to move me into the room, even to rotate around the axis in order to search all corners by aliens and then to decide: I'll shoot the flying brain in the top left corner or over I back cover outside the room ... "
- The cards are not randomly based, but the pre-enclosed are very nice and adequate. Maybe a bit too small, but if that's the prez for a smooth gaming experience, then accepted.
- One can customize his soldiers, but you can not change their nation. The class of a soldier konnt verifiable not itself choose I lacked snipers and Untersützer. Maybe I was too stupid to see the change option for the first promotion, but the manual is indeed keien help because virtually absent. There is a (hidden) trophy for to cope with a purely women's squad on a mission. But I had exactly a lady, the rest were guys. Since the random number generator failed real ;-)
- Difficulty: There's something for everyone. If the aliens meet increasingly better: you have to live with it, that soldiers are taken behind supposedly high walls, because even the high wall is just only 40% more coverage. It's here now times to chance and not to realism. Is okay.
- Technical Weaknesses: I had Freezes. And the start of the final mission ran until the fourth attempt by clean, if I had not strangled the cutscene, the PS3 would probably stayed every time hanging at the end of the cutscene.
- Story: That's all very solid. I liked the occasional cutscenes, dull soldier, astute lab aunt, thanks for the stereotypes. Although it has been seen by even playing through everything and the second time it solves no thrill from. But where that's different?

Why only four stars: The end is not a real highlight, there was more to it. There is room for improvement, but on the PS3, there is nothing like it. The economic part is expandable (you can not sell the weapons, you do not need), the price level in the game is enough said. The tactics portion can use fine-tuning, but the base is there. XCOM EU is an absolutely suitable basis for a successor who may be happy to be even better.
