My most positive impression is marred that the machine appears to be defective after 3 months now.
The pump does not build up more pressure. The pressure gauge varies pulsing (approx 1s) between zero and a higher value.
(Machine always cleaned / descaled.)
I will report what happens next with customer service etc..
But even if the customer service should work, so I find it unacceptable that to happen after such a short time.
My urpsrüngliche review:
The machine makes a very good espresso. As with any Siebträgermaschine course you have only the right combination of beans, grinding degree, quantity and pressure found. Mir is after a few attempts already well managed.
Contrary to the often encountered statement that goes well with "industry beans" from the department store (maybe not the cheapest company). Of course, hand-roasted beans supply of the roastery near YUMMY results.
For frequently mentioned problem (especially when Gastroback 42612 Design) of ground coffee, the bib:
In fact, during the milling process always something goes wrong, because the mill has produced a larger pile powder. This amount is, however, necessary to reach the correct pressure and taste later. In the barista Edition the powder ends up at least centered on the sieve. You could also grind 2x half and rope in between. Otherwise, this problem would have to actually exist in other machines or separate mills as well. One can not construct the sieve finally simply larger or take less powder. Then vote diameter and height ("thickness" of the puck) for Espresso no longer.
As already described elsewhere the Grundeinstullung for the controller for the amount of coffee is also a bit strange at the Barista Edition. You always have to minimum him actually, because the mill grinds otherwise too much Kaffer. When filter insert for a double espresso it could possibly make sense "single size" (ie for a simple espresso) select (via button) and then the slider to turn up. I have not tried it yet.
Milk foam is great and you can shortly afterwards coffee relate (short machine pumps water for cooling).
One can use the machine by the way quite "normal" coffee producing listen away (Espresso Gourmets please :-) by eg the filters for double espresso only half filled (setting "single size") and thus can undergo "normal" cup. But for something like the Barista Edition is really too bad.
Only the heat plate (above) made of plastic, I find not so good. The will probably be scratched soon.
For durability (seals, pump, ...) I can not say anything else. I have the machine only about 10 days. So far everything runs without problems.
