The mother, in turn, is controlled on cross hurtful kind from social services, the employees come unannounced to visit (morning / early morning, mother just got up, child is still asleep), shake the door, would enter the apartment on his own initiative, the chain would Door does not prevent. But the mother has of course no choice but to grant as the two employees (women and men) intake because above all hovers the greatest fear, the son might be taken away from her. So the young mother is therefore at the mercy of this situation. While the woman from social services speaks friendly and seemingly sympathetic to the young mother, her colleague takes (one large, dominant-looking man) the apartment carefully under the microscope - rooms are inspected, open drawers, a poster of the bedroom wall away and above the bed hung the Son, etc.
The clear "instructions" by the youth welfare office staff (the boy is sleeping in your own bed, among other things) the mother eventually induce them to monitor her son at night by a baby monitor.
The themes of power, control, helplessness, but also (or precisely because) fears and emotional blackmail, pull practically like a red thread through the entire movie.
Protagonists, there are rather few (the film takes place at a few places and very much in the apartment), but this is clearly stands out the threat of dominant, machtausübende men through to sexual harassment. Men are in this movie, I feel that, basically either "offender" or "victim".
Because in addition to, for example, the dominant man from social services as well as other characters of this kind, there is the new friend of the mother, which we witness again in how he can be of his own dying elderly mother, under whose overprotection he long his life had to suffer, must gradually dissolve.
The role of women, however, seems likely to go down, women seem by the main character (in the emotional world is an approximate insight gets) mainly as lovingly / to be perceived understanding, seem the same but also a more passive or more than "instructions executive" to play role.
More and more escalate the events and at the end of the film is quite a degree of "resolution" delivered, but by no means all the questions answered. But that's a good thing, in my opinion, must remain open in this type of movie lot, so there is much room for interpretation and speculation. Personally, I would also say that the film has a lot of symbolism. So I've got already so developed my theories - other spectators come but perhaps an entirely different interpretation to mind and just these ways I find very interesting.
Bottom line is that this film is very "psychologically" and plays on quite subtle levels, has little to offer in a small Beautiful World, drab, dreary and oppressive acts, but precisely because the feelings of the character (s) reflects.
However, I must also say that if you have seen some movies of this type, you gradually certain theories / ideas developed while watching what could well be behind everything. It so happens that the end has me personally not soooo very surprised - but why was no less poignant. Nevertheless, I have the film very much looked at and want to give him no less than five stars, because for me it is just because of its subtlety, its many outstanding issues - which you will be encouraged to think about - and (especially at the end) at the same time very emotional moments, a real gem.
