The roles are certainly inexpensive. Only the term soft is misplaced. The roles are hard. A soft roll coating could rubber (ideally) or from polyurethane elastomer made. A gray, contrasting color alone is not enough. I am struck as material expert of the positive reviews, whose motives certainly not based on specialized knowledge or technical expertise in this respect. Installation on a Vitra chair was not easy
