My dream player

This player met all my wildest dreams. He replaced four of my older equipment. These include a Blu-Ray player of the first hour, a SACD player, a DVD player that plays also Dolby 5.1 recordings from satellite radio and a USB Media Player. In my remarks, it is mainly about something exotic Media Files in descriptions and test reports is hardly anything.

The opportunities offered I would accept that the BDP-450 is a bit older. According to the label on the box it is produced in Nov.-2013. I have received it yesterday with firmware V02.09. The current version 2.12 was easily install via USB stick. You will be required to access Youtube. It is noteworthy that the BDP-450 contains a Qdeo video processor which otherwise lies only in expensive equipment of Oppo or Cambridge Audio. This processor is characterized by a very good upscaling of DVDs. Even records of castrated public format 720p upscaling gets well.

Audio capabilities
============
SACD, DVD-Audio and DTS-CD, of course. DTS-CDs with 5.1 surround sound can differ by the way no player from simple audio CDs. Therefore, there also the oldest CD player and digital recorder again, if they are connected digitally to a DTS decoder (surround amplifier).

Records from the satellite radio and -Television are (slightly older than MP3) or Dolby Digital encoded in MP2 format with 5.1 channels. The usual file names are .mp2 and ac3. The BDP-450 detects .mp2 files and play them. How many MP3 players, he plays it well when he gets MP2 records foisted named .mp3. Files with the extension .ac3 he does not recognize. We baptize them into .mp3, he plays it, although the content is Dolby 5.1 and not MP3. The aforementioned audio files plays the BDP-450 not only from USB drives but also from discs, which he recognizes as a data CD, data DVD or data Bluray.

Progressive video

Newer camcorders produce video with 50 frames per second (1080 / 50p or 1080p / 50Hz). Because beyond the Blu-ray standard, BD player can not do anything in the rule. But the BDP-450, it can!

From the USB stick he plays such videos (.m2ts file name or .ts). Although such files are available on a data Blu-ray, he plays it. The most brilliant are discs with Blu-ray folder structure and 1080p / 50th I know of no other player who can. In principle, he plays the records clearly show data DVDs, mostly it jerky, however, because the drive is not herfördert the large amount of data.

Naturally, the BDP-450 also plays 1080p / 24 video from USB. These are usually of (non-copy protected) Blu-Ray movies copied. Even mini-Blu-Ray, so Blu-ray structures on DVDs run flawlessly. Mini-HD-DVDs it recognizes as data DVDs, but can not do anything with the files on it. Like almost all players also denied the full Pioneer DVD and Blu-ray images to other storage media.

Sometimes there is evidence that HD recordings not run by ZDF properly. When a 720p / 50 at 1080p / 50 projected video of Pioneer shows lots of colorful blocks (MPEG artefacts). A simple Panasonic Player plays it knotless against. The error has been corrected, when we make with the program from the original tsMuxer .m2ts- a .ts file.

Supplement TV recording

Records from SAT-TV 720p / 50Hz correspond to the Blu-ray standard. That's why they run on all BD players, also on the BDP-450. They are also playable from USB. The extrapolation to 1080p / 50 by the player is really top.
A Blu-ray template can be done with a TV-recording with the above-mentioned program tsMuxer. We are best removed equal unneeded tracks.
