Hereby I can use on the hot shoe of my camera my giant iPhone wonderfully among others. No additional accessories required.
It holds absolutely superb, nothing wobbles or moves.
To Mobile Dongle my Triggertrap (smartphone as a remote trigger for DSLR - very cool story) to use in conjunction with a tripod and to keep both hands free, this combination of ball head and smartphone holder is ideally suited. Vs. advantageous. Original Triggertrap smartphone holder:
- My Giant iPhone fits snugly into the holder. The original is much too small for the iPhone 6 Plus.
- Thanks to the spherical head, I'm in the orientation of the smartphones I'm much more flexible than the rigid original bracket etc. Products.
The ball head is doing exactly what it should. He is surprisingly small and surprisingly solid processed and correspondingly stable. Perfectly suited for use with a smartphone. What is also quite cool to the head, is that both threads in 1/4 "and 3/8" or the hot shoe can be used with the small powerhouse for docking without additional accessories.
However, a smaller deficit in my view:
-The Handle to lock the ball and the top nut are made of plastic - although high, but metal would have been for eternity. Now is not enough for a star deduction, but would be more durable.
I think for use with a medium-sized DSLR you should look for another head - also looks so more like deliberate and not skillfully. Probably for compact cameras, GoPro's cameras or smaller System also a very good choice.
