I use the lens like for portraits. The high speed makes it possible, even if it's dark outside to take pictures at a normal lighting indoors out of hand without a flash. And even on a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6, ie on a camera without image stabilization.
The build quality is high, the here and there criticized the use of plastic for the focus ring I can not understand. Also that during manual focusing, the plastic ring is intended to solve, which protects the connector for the lens hood, I have not found. The absence of the lens hood, the other manufacturers enclose their lenses, also does not bother me - just as the lack of a quiver. The latter, however, I have bought for little money from a third party. Due to the small size and weight, the Olympus 45 mm simply well suited for being even taken as an option if you do not want to lug a complete photographic equipment.
Who can not do anything with the focal length of 45mm or simply for other favorable fixed focal lengths studied, whom I would recommend the three MFT lenses from Sigma.
