The Adapter Kit I have installed in my new MacBook Pro 13 "(Mid 2012). Relatively easy to make the installation is (very good guide at iFixit example).
In the mounting frame I have the 'old' 500GB hard drive MacBooks installed (this I have replaced with a 500GB SSD). These additional internal hard drive I use at the moment as a Time Machine volume, which magnificently.

The developed SuperDrive I built into the included external enclosure. The case is well made and looks chic. If, however, made of painted plastic (base plate black metal). The external drive is recognized without problems.
