Objective purchased in March 2008, mounted on a Nikon D70. I immediately appreciated the sharpness and rendering shots, even if vignetting tends to appear to 18mm. Especially with a filter, UV or polarizing. This objective does not weigh too the device, and the zoom range is perfect for use "tourist". The only small problem can be is the lack of precision of the focal ring between 100 and 200. They are close together on a small angle and it becomes difficult to frame precisely when approaching 200. But that does not stop me from achieving until December 2010, over 7000 photos of all genres. Macro, portraits, landscapes, monuments and architecture, still lifes, sport. There was junk, of course, but mostly good shots, provided you have the correct brightness as this objective is not very comfortable in low light. I am very careful with my material but yet less than three years after purchase, irreparable breakdown of the goal. The helical ramp was blocked, screws are detached to the ramp and wander into the lens. The professional responsible for the repair tells me that it's not so rare on this type of goals ... So inevitably big disappointment on this side, especially at the time it was costing 380! With an estimate of 280 repair, I will be ordering off the Nikkor. In conclusion, I will give 5 stars for its good optical properties and taken in hand, but have serious reservations about its reliability. Unless this is an isolated case.
