Element of Freedom is more convincing than the previous album, As I Am, even if no such overwhelming hit like No one is. And the great Empire State of Mind is on Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3. For Alicia's album with Empire State of Mind (Part II) Broken Down, a continuation of their vocal parts, without Jay-Z's rap and less ends impressive as Part I. Put it in a love song with Beyonce is the outlier of the album, but not in a negative sense, something unexpected with its slightly hectic singing, between the relaxing love songs of this album. Unlike As I am Element of Freedom is a very unified, harmonious music. And so it may be a bit monotonous for non-fans. A bucket Grammys distributed for this CD would probably plenty coated. It is soulful, good pop music, pleasantly low-key, but not irrelevant or boring. The booklet provides the complete lyrics and five photos of Alicia. Just as the illustrations, the CD looks the album sounds then: peaceful, inspiring, very relaxed.
