From the outer processing perspective, the device makes a better impression than many other in this price range. The quality of the innards turn out mostly only with time.
Some reviewers have complained about the disturbing operating noise. This I want to relativize. We have had a total of three VCRs, two high-priced brand appliances and a cheap device. And compared to units from the upper price range cuts the LG 4787 in terms of noise certainly something worse. But compared to devices of its price range it already looks different again, because there is much Louder. (The only truly silent device in this price range I found at Daewoo.)
For commissioning: The manual is written in understandable German, but could be better structured. And who does not know that the station search when satellite reception is not working, because it is basically taken over AV, learns nothing, but will be surprised first, why the device does not find channels.
And Now for the good features. Here I will limit myself to functions that are not self-evident in this price range:
CM Skip - if recorded advertising comes, you can skip this by pressing the button (each 30 seconds per press, max 6x press = 3 minutes are possible..). Obviously you have not oriented in this function in the German market with its eternally long commercial breaks.
I welcome the opportunity to help steer the TV (on / off, volume, program selection and AV switch). However, this feature is limited to the devices of five manufacturers (according to list:. LG / Goldstar, Zenith, Samsung, Sony, Hitachi).
The recording quality (tested with a Neukassette) is good for an analog device in this price range. Both sound and picture are in order; Stereo sound is only available with SCART cable, not included but. The OPR function provides the opportunity to give during operation, the image manually sharper or more blur. Maybe this is interesting for older cartridges, but at halfway good recordings, it is more detrimental.
There are the ezPower off function that performs the action stop-rewind-off with a button, but that's probably more of a gimmick or something for forgetful. The benefits of ezRepeat function, ie the ability to repeat a certain sequence automatically, do not open up to me, but should be mentioned for completeness.
The on-screen menu is incidentally beautiful clear when even know which icon belongs to which function. The icons are easy to grasp but. And you have all devices wired together properly, the menu will be displayed in the current TV mode. Some VCR are switching to TV sound / picture completely.
Would also be mentioned that the device allows a simulcast circuit when certain programs are provided with parallel running sound from FM radio. But that will probably be interested only cable customers.
Energy consumption is satisfyingly low (12 W Operating / 3 W standby). If the device is switched off, the clock will turn off.
Now the drawbacks: There are no Index function, the recording start would be indexed so that you find faster the coils there. The opportunity to appear in the TIME counter coils, this disadvantage softens slightly.
When I read the device details in the data sheet, I thought that this was perhaps the Logic Search function, but that is switched to a so-called. Picture search. Ie. If you fast forward the tape from the stop position out or rewinds, you can temporarily turn on this feature, the picture, to see at what point of the band you are (ie similar to the flow and return in the play position.
The second shortcoming is the lack of options to program daily, weekly or monthly shots. There is only the option of entering one-time shots.
So, everything else has been sufficiently discussed in other reviews.
Because I want to renounce neither to the index function, nor on the programming for recording recurring items (which should be standard in this price range), I have the equipment yet returned and a recorder of Daewoo (V737) bought, in addition, these two functions has, for easy compromises in the sound quality of recordings in LP mode must be accepted.
My conclusion: Who can do without these two functions, gets a real top instrument in the class below 100 Euro. Therefore still four star. With index search and programming options, there would have been smooth five stars.
