In a direct comparison with my detached Yamaha CDX 590 whose charging eventually the service more often refused, suggests the new CD-C 700 the old players in my opinion, by far. It did to me on a hitherto not experienced sound quality. Purity and dynamics are excellent. It comes naturally to it, on which performance of the connected amplifier / receiver has (I still have an old Yamaha RX-V 692 RDS AV receiver, I do not want to give up ...) and which speaker is used. I have the player connected analog (RCA cable) and use the setting "Pure Direct".
The headphone jack I do not miss (if I use the jack on the receiver), and the lack of numeric keypad on the device could not diminish my interest in buying. Finally you have the remote control at hand that fulfills all tasks necessary for complete satisfaction. Particular mention was the charge that operates almost silently. Through its filigree production I see away, eventually you do with coarse tool initially, but with a Hi-Fi device.
A small optical shortcoming was mentioned in passing: On top of the device two big screws are processed. That would be certainly able to solve different!
My Conclusion:
I have a lot of fun with the new players and enjoy to listen to loud music, preferably rock and jazz. Also in stylishly designed pieces purity and dynamics are excellent. Experience in classical music I have not, however, with the CD-S 700, but I'm assuming that the player fully satisfies even the requirements of classical music listeners.
From my side an unrestricted Purchase Recommendation and 5 star!
