Purcell modernized? That sounds rather frightening for a classic fan like me initially as attractive. Because of the wonderful countertenor Philippe Jaroussky I have the CD but once curious and listened - and I find them fantastic. Even with his CD to Monteverdi Ensemble "L'Arpeggiata" had shown how fresh and new Baroque music can sound. In "Music for a while" this concert will be expanded bold. The pieces Purcell are appropriately interpreted and varies with harmonic finesse and improvisation. To this end, one can only say that the musicians are the pieces both musically and expression concerning absolutely fair. Each piece will receive its own individual occupation, used in addition to the voices, especially guitar, clarinet, zinc, piano and double bass, and flutes, and not forgetting percussion instruments. The result is at the masters of their craft, the woman Pluhar has brought together here once again, simply a pleasure. As in previous CDs of L'Arpeggiata pleased Philippe Jaroussky with its clear and moving voice, but especially with his high musical interpretation of art, and with so clever as sensitive improvisations. Likewise, joyfully playing the wonderful Doron Sherwin on zinc, Gianluigi Trovesi with the clarinet and jazz guitarist Wofgang Muthspiel and all the other instrumentalists, relaxed varying but always masterfully together, ie another hearing. It is quite well once surprised by an electric guitar or organ improvisation, but everything fits surprisingly well to the music of Purcell. By its very interesting extremely high tenor Vincenzo Capezzuto interpreted some of the pieces, very modern and with wit - an acoustic discovery. By Raquel Andueza to the high voices joined to a soprano with a clear voice. A special delight are the two duets, each with Philippe Jaroussky. Overall, Purcell is probably appropriate here and more make music in his spirit, as many well-intentioned but dry-boring performances. The music of Purcell is harmonically daring, emotionally deep and over time - and L'Arpaggiata awakens completely to life. Highly recommended both baroque music enthusiasts with a wider horizon, as well as for fans of jazz, blues and modern music in general. Therefore, contrary to my previous concerns simply five star much you have to listen just to believe it.
