I so loved the novel by Philippe Claudel, I am so appropriate that it was difficult or impossible to adhere to a graphic representation / interpretation, as talented as it is. Comics are of great beauty. But for me, it does not tell the same story as the one that captivated me. One example: Brodeck dog. Larcenet represents Brodeck is leashed in this concentration camp, forced to crawl and eat in a bowl. He said although the other despised accept these humiliations, but that the others died and is living it. But he omits what seems most important to understand that character: "No doubt had they not reason enough to live them?" The characters have for my taste too physical of "broken faces". That said, the BD is a masterpiece, the novel is another, it is the bridge between the two that did not convince me.
