Difficult decision: Sony or Samsung

First of all:
Here on Amazon you have the number of the given star often consider also using other products. Originally I wanted, if only because of a minimal drawbacks (see below), give 4 stars. That would, however, compared to the competition for this, otherwise excellent, device more than unfair.

The purchase decision:
I admit with a bad conscience that I can advise you, without you there to buy the equipment myself in an electronics store. This decision was difficult for me, but to dispense for 1 year extended warranty thanks to Amazon credit card, was not an option. The following comments are particularly interesting for the undecided who, possibly influenced by the numerous good reviews of the Samsung devices that are more likely to buy this "4-star Sony device". (+ = Pro Sony, - = Contra-Sony)

(+/-) Design: For the design I need not say much. The frame is very thin and made of real aluminum. No plastic like Samsung, which I find, however, in contrast to a cell phone, no matter because it does not really stand tall at a distance. A small drawback you have when using a wall bracket. This is one (VESA standard) can not be used without the Sony adapter kit. Up and down the screws must be of different lengths and thickness and also you need 2 pins to compensate for the differences in height. On Amazon I have not found this .... at electronics markets there but stock!

(+) Sharpness: Really impressed by me, and that's also the reason why I was suddenly convinced of a Sony-purchase, the difference in image quality between this and a Samsung W705 UE42H6410 Sony. I asked a staff me a Blu-ray (had some X-Men Trailer) audition parallel) on both units and I was really impressed by the difference in the representation of the image. The colors I do not want to talk about, as you can as much be improved by settings, but we will examine only the sharpness, which was much better to bear simply on the Sony, as if you had a little more pixels.

(+) Image flow: using the same trailer I noticed also the difference in the fluid of the images. On the Sony, there was simply "smoother" over. All in all, had me this comparison so completely convinced.

(0) Color: I was even prepared a Sony comparing the colors shown, based on which you could see that Samsung Blue on Blue can hardly represent, this I held but tampered with. I never noticed with my old Samsung that something would be wrong with the colors. Certainly, the Sony in the colors a little better (is also more expensive) but you do not have it now exaggerate.

- Without comparison -

(-) Football mode: you can forget. At the World Cup I have tried it in some games. The sound is then simply tinny, very strange. Well, could have been a nice gimmick, just annoying that one that then installs in the state.

(-) Power supply: that the power supply is external, does not bother me. What bothers me is the very low sine tone that the power supply for a few minutes from there, after you turn off the TV. In everyday irrelevant it bothers falling asleep but enormous. Just loud enough that you can hear it when everything around is quiet, it prevented my sleep and I have to get up to pull the plug. Then I'm not half asleep but awake again ...-.-
A replacement managed not help, so it probably is actually a general problem of the power supply. This is also the reason why I wanted to give only 4 stars. A radio-controlled socket, incidentally now solved this problem. I should also say that I am extremely noisy. Some interfere with this at all not sure.

- To previous criticism -

(+) Switch: I can understand the criticism regarding an alleged slow switching not understand. The TV enters a little faster in the programs in order, than my old Samsung. Absolutely in the normal range and not disturbing, after 1sec the process is completed at the latest. Only after switching on you have to wait for 10sec and ... well though.

(0) Smart TV: In a nutshell: Smart TV is complete, unnecessary crap in any television. Only at the World Cup, the statistics were quite nice. But who goes as you please via remote control and TV to the Internet? I recommend Google Chrome Cast, Apple TV or a HDMI cable to buy, so goes YouTube or other streaming easier and more convenient. No TV is ever right on paper and it is in my opinion in the market is also no need. For easy it is to reflect the other device screen. As I said that was not better even with my old Samsung. The visual television By contrast, works flawlessly and is quite nice.

(+) Sound: According to test reports, I can say that the sound is rather good here. I personally place compared to the old unit to positive nor a negative point of a difference determined. Bass is for example as always a little weak. I've had enough completely, if not, I hear with good headphones, because bass do at night the neighbors crazy anyway.

(0) Operation: Both the remote control and the adjustment of the transmitter was tedious, but, and I repeat, that was on my Samsung as well. The setting you make once in 2 years, as it is I really do not care if the then lasts 20minutes. I was even more surprised, because I was in contrast to Samsung, my programs demonstrate freely and not individual courts (for whatever reason) were not to forgive. All in all, comes to mind at the service nothing to negative.

I would like to explain once again why I run a comparison to Samsung in some places. I am satisfied with my television and was particularly in the direct comparison between Samsung and Sony surprised that Sony actually has a much better image quality and that's nunmal the primary obligation of a TV. I find it a pity therefore that this device with 40x4-star addition to 719x4,5 Star Samsung devices wrongly worse off at the buyer choice, which does not mean that there are not good reasons for the competition .... ..

Conclusion and purchasing decision:
Who wants to choose between these two brands, which I can lay the Sony because of the picture quality only to the heart. For concerns remains that one, at least here on Amazon, an extra pay, even though you do not get 3D functionality for it. Who does not care who gets the better device.
Smart TV is how many previous speakers have already mentioned, mostly useless, but this is not in the competition differently. Switching the programs work almost without a hitch. The Sony KDLW705 deserved total compared to the competition 5-star. In price / performance ratio you can see the entire critical.

I would therefore conclude by saying that the decision is the same as between VW and Toyota. At VW you get for an extra charge, the better quality, but if the amount of the surcharge is worth it, you have to decide for yourself.
