On the scenario, there is catastrophic! No actual frame nor plot, ideas debut (not all good) end to end, but never really exploited: the enumerator, the giant icicle voice the problems of Scottish, flasks in the loch, all that is drafted without the plot is enriched by. The usually colorful characters like the druid Panoramix or pirates are dull. Word games are mostly here wheezy (gender, we widened head to put one per page) when they naturally came out of the verve of Goscinny. Cool ideas are badly exploited, such as pictograms that could have provided a funny ideas mine (see hieroglyphics or Asterix and Cleopatra Asterix the Legionary). The classic story of the trip overseas to bring a native, already successfully used in other albums (eg in Hispania is absolutely delicious throughout) is gloomy here.
Eventually this album is in the zeitgeist: the zapping without real history followed the politically correct (no touch of humor on the characteristics of a people, the Scottish stingy expected by example and not a word about the haggies ???) far from the truculence which ultimately made us lovable Swiss, Belgian, Corsican (even English!) ... through a caricature of their faults, but always imbued with a universal humanity. As for the black pirate (always fun and often malignant) usually in the crow's nest, he disappeared, barely glimpsed and we do not say a word. Did I mention the pikes of Gallic women, who could have led a funny and full of verve debate with their husbands, but form a monologue that falls flat without some well distributed macho opposite. I confirm to you all this is politically correct smooth. Goscinny, always quick to denounce an incisive pen (but still soaked bonhomie) the failings of his fellows is far ...
Frankly if a new album comes out, I'll read it in a supermarket before I have to buy it.
