And that brings me the first big plus point of this CD (series):
Here not the usual cheap stuff Disco is set before us, which is sold to us on numerous 80 or 30+ parties. (-> Why on such events totally undeterred RnB, Soul & Funk of the 80 concealed ??)
No - on this CD you can listen to the really "cool" Hits. On CD1 of the double CD to numbers such as "Let's Talk" ONE WAY ('85) or CHAKA Khans "I Feel For You" ('84) again. Currently absolute steam hammer. This also applies for "The Rhythm Of The Jungle" by The QUICK ('82). The intro on CD1 comes from the legendary CHIC with the '84 hit "You Are Beautiful". More Groove really does not ...
CD2 I would personally put together a little differently. Of Loose Ends, Johnny Kemp or Stephanie Mills there were better, more important, more dynamic numbers from this period. At this point, the series "Grand 12-Inches" by Ben Liebrand be mentioned whose compilation I find successful. But that's about the only negative point, which is now also very subjective.
The sound quality is very good, for this there is a plus point. Lovely, too, that here the "12-inch versions" exist instead of the usually boring short single versions, which are often used on other compilations to get as many tracks on a CD.
Most numbers on "Disco Giants" are from the mid-80s. During this time many twists were at at that disco music. Funk and disco were almost "sophisticated" and you had to be able to move on the dance floors to. This has, however, at that time works well surprisingly! Does anyone actually the depot in Münster ?? (At that time when it was still good). The former DJs did their best to push this music style.
Therefore, it's nice to note that there still are fans of this music and turn up those CDs on the market!
Conclusion: "Disco Giants" is something for collectors of these tracks, for fans of the former disco time for fans of the full version today EHR hard to find!
In this sense: Keep on movin 'and groovin' !!
