In preparation of my skiing holiday in Austria, I wanted to download an updated map material. This was not possible for me due to errors of the updated program (Content Manager): It appears an available update, but can this not perform because the Content Manager downloads only maps of Spain, Gibraltar, France and Italy - and is the previously installed card (Q2 2012).
Internet searches revealed that these problems have existed for almost 2 years (previous models already affected). It is not possible to purchase a map update from Germany, but you have to download the whole of Europe for 60,00. Bulgaria however, there are individually!
The navigation has been very poorly on the way to Austria. The Becker Ready 50 set out a route, from which it could not be dissuaded. Even after traffic-induced shutdown of the proposed route (A9 instead continue on A93), the navigation device wanted me another 100 km further (height Regensburg) returning to the A9. It was on the A93 no congestion.
Next are the speed error information, the knowledge of permanent road works and the tunnel ads because there is no near Regensburg - navigation device after but already. Repeats the Becker Ready 50 gave up the driving instructions from the A9 diversions that were not named (only display "diversion" and a map section). Other senseless Note overlays are delay calculations which apparently arise by chance, or the message "No reasonable alternative available."
After consulting the Becker-Support (! 0.89 per minute from a landline) I call duration was 27 minutes made it clear that I no Ready 50 with LMU (Lifetime Map Update = Lifetime Map Updates - costs only about 15 more!) Have but a device without this guarantee. However, this was in the product description and on the packaging of the device is not clearly identifiable (it would have to be there a red triangle with that same note are). With this device, only the one-time update of the maps is possible within the 30-day registration, if it had been taken by Conten Manager possible.
The support offered to me through the email address [email protected] designate, then return the instrument for checking the error. About any cost, there was no information - but is on the manufacturer side noted that the sending in a device, which ultimately turns out to be not defective, 25.00 costs.
Since the "rigid", ie is not on the user-depth Navigation no fault of firmware, but was so envisaged will only cause one entry higher costs without improvement.
I can purchase from one of the Becker Ready 50 only advise, even if the display is very appealing - but that is not enough! It is this device is NOT suitable for everyday use product.
