In my search for a HDD recorder, which is recognized also in the network and can be pushed over a NAS as its TV recordings (DVB-T) a lengthy fruitless search until I came across this device was. In principle, there is a small Linux computer, which does exactly what I've been looking for.
First of all: You can take the Dreambox, which is itself without a hard drive (but has an eSATA port, if one does not have a NAS and so directly would like to connect a hard disk), adjust the recording destination any NAS share. Here, the time-shift function store its data. The generated files are .ts files that can be viewed and edited using any software on the PC. The basic equipment of the Dreambox can be extended by software plugins. But of course, a connection to the home network makes sense, so that the Dreambox can download and install their extensions from the Internet. Verschiedentlichste EPG, Timer accessories, Skins and much more are available. Firmware updates can also be performed easily. Shots that can just run either with the Dreambox itself or with another network device to be played, even while they are running. The last playback position in the file will be memorized. Accompanying texts from the EPG to the mission also be stored. Even during recording you can Dreambox program additional timers, delete modify, view previously recorded shows, delete, move, and so on and so on.
One caveat there. The Dreambox DM500 HD has only one tuner. So record a program while watching another is not, but is usually not necessary because usually has the TV on its own DVB-T tuner. *)
The Dreambox can be used as small addition even complete control via a web interface and over the network, you can even watch TV about. Recordings of SD content can be even locks for NAS via a WLAN bridge with no dropouts. Here however, you should better use a wireless bridge with n-standard.
The Dreambox has an SSH access, you can with corresponding Linux skills here even improvements to program (a Custom Skin, timercheck change, etc.).
The built-in fan is almost inaudible übrigends. Attention! In the beginning, it may happen that the Dreambox smells scorched after prolonged use. This goes but after a day or two.
*) This passage I have some perspective in an addendum. One can in a single DVB-T receiver for. B. take a transmitter and watching another, when both at the same frequency (channel) are. On average, usually 4 stations share a frequency with Freeview. As an example, I call them once a, b, c and d. On another Freguenz are then e, f, g and h are summarized. Now you can z. B. take a transmitter and at the same station b or c or d view, but not transmitter e, f, g or h. You can also submit (after a small correction in the software of the box) at the same or overlapping channels a, b, c and / or record d. I have tested it already with up to 3 overlapping shots. One really nice thing.
Addendum and info: Who can be versed in Linux change the /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/TimerSanityCheck.py file in line 228. Here a diamond for commenting before querying the Timer testing ("if ConflictTimer is None: # No conflict found :)" in "#if ConflictTimer is None: # No conflict found :)") and one is the most senseless and unnecessary Kollissionsprüfung los , This can then be programmed overlapping timer. To modify the workgroup "Dream" to something else you have to edit the file "/etc/samba/smb.conf" and there can be found in row 8 the corresponding entry. This is z. B. necessary to embed the Dreambox in a job network can. All the changes can be made easily via SSH access. Please note that it requires some knowledge of Linux.
