Duran Duran goes prog rock

Tel Aviv (AIR Studio Version) (MP3 Download)

Customer Review

The version of Tel Aviv from the Air Studio is a completely different than the debut album. The latter is an instrumental, this contrast with a text. Apart from the title, both versions have little in common. The Air Studio version dates from the time before the first album, and was recorded as early as July 1980. At this time, the members of the band 18-21 years were old. That should keep in mind is when you hear this song. The fact here is not Teeniepop for which the band was often falsely denounced, but almost progressive rock. The song begins fairly quiet with 2 times verse, chorus. After about 2.5 minutes, the thing takes the right way to ride. The band rocks be instrumental through the remaining 3.5 minutes. A better solo has not hinbekommen in his remaining career with the band guitarist Andy Taylor. Musically are clearly audible influences from Bowie (Moonage Daydream), Roxy Music, Supertramp (Song Crime Of The Century) and Pink Floyd (the closing of part 2 of Shine On You Crazy Diamond).
Unfortunately, this demo version can only be found on the now quite expensive traded CDs Deluxe or Special Editions of the self-titled debut album. When downloading this version is still available and worth a recommendation, or even just a fortiori if one has nothing with the Popsingles the band on his hat. The most I do not want to believe that Duran Duran is the preludes. You hear most on vocals.
