The physical set-up is simple, but the cloning part of the old to the new drive was long and painful (when I was doing the same operation on my HP tower and a WD drive without any difficulty, see my post about).
However, it is necesary if you do not want / can not re-install all the software you had before.
Here is the advice I can give you to avoid the same disappointment:
Download TuneUp 1- (free version 30 days) and do a disk check to remove bad sectors
(Otherwise the cloning step 6 will fail and you will have wasted hours). You can also use chkdsk / r if you're used to.
2- go to the Seagate website and download the firmware
3- install the firmware on a USB stick (beware, this erases everything on the key)
4- DiskWizard download the software on the Seagate site
5- plug the drive externally via a USB cable -SATA (for example)
6- Diskwizard use for cloning the old disk to the new one (warning: diskwizard only start if you have connected a Seagate disk, so wait until windows have acknowledged)
7- once performed cloning and off PC: plug the USB drive with the firmware
8- remove the old drive and replace it with the new
9- restart the PC, and early press F2 to enter the setup menu, go to the "boot" and ensure that the USB key is in first position.
10- save changes and exit the PC restarts and the firmware installation will start automatically
11- choose option 1) (install)
12- the installation proceeds and the PC shuts down at the end
13- remove the USB drive containing the firmware
14- restart the PC, and voila!
I had tried without steps firmware and PC planted with the new drive in the middle Windows starts.
So the product is good, but 1 star for Seagate because they do not help much to install their product easily
