So it's not rocket science to put the plant into operation. With a patch cable to vprhandenen router with the smaller box to connect and this stuck in a wall socket, plug the larger box, in the center of the extended wireless network, press the "pair" button and do the same at smaller box and immediately see the connection. As easy as it can go.
Can it not but should. For what concerns the sockets can Powerline definitely be choosy. Does not work, it has worked for me behind a UPS that obviously considers the signals as interference and effectively filters out. Even in power strips it often works only when the adapter in the first, the cable is closest slot. The best connection is created when the outlet is exclusively reserved for the adapter, which this course blocked for other purposes.
The advantage is that you have to lay any cables. The one must not, however, in a pure wireless connection. So Powerline especially justified when the radio network to be set up at a place where no signals of the main network are to receive more, eg in shielded by a reinforced concrete floor basement. Here we achieved the best achievable without new cable data throughput with Powerline.
Another obstacle arises when is shut down for safety WPS on the router. The repeater must then be manually configured. This is done by calling its web interface. The data rate was moving in the tip to 300Mbps, but usually remained far below what may be due to disturbances in my over-technological household ;-). Even a slight fluctuation of the field strength of the established radio network fell to what can not be observed in other wireless extenders. On the whole sufficient perceived speed of Internet access but that had little effect.
Overall, you have to praise the light based device, the award of a relatively safe default password for the network access and more stable in relation to previous versions connection. Interference with SAT-TV, radio reception, portable phones or home automation system did not occur.
But the silver bullet is and remains the cable. It is tap-proof and the fastest and least expensive by far connection. 2nd place followed for me a faster wireless extender in 2.4 and 5 GHz range, as it can still only has an outlet and provide several rooms. Only once these connections are not possible comes powerline used. The assessed here devices do their job quite well here.
