Battle for Middle Earth is a real-time strategy and uses the proven graphics engine that we know from Command & Conquer Generals, the control is similar. You can always interrupt the game, save your game and load again. However, it has the base building little freedoms and can build only at specified points. The graphics are excellent, however, and first class. The background music fits excellent as well and does not get boring. A notable example is the campaign that is based on the story of the film. It contains all the elements that we know from the movies, even the trolls, the Ents, the Nazgul, the giant eagle and the army of the dead, and of course the famous hero Gandalf, Legolas, Faramir, Boromir, etc. The hero ever by rank and experience special abilities and can rise up to the edge 10. Everything is animated very detailed and lovingly. The locations of the two main battles, Helm's Deep and Minas Tirith are modeled to the smallest detail to, so that you could actually almost feel the game, you find yourself "in the film", only the one here even has control. As with C & C, you can choose between single games (fighting), multi-player games and a campaign. The nice thing about the campaign is that you do not have to build a new army in every battle, but the units that have survived can carry from game to game. The older the veteran units, the higher are their skills accordingly.
