Specifically, this means that I (HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP06LU10 HL03) have chosen to test the three at my disposal DVD burners (LG, Plextor, Panasonic) equal to the LG, because this exception all blanks the manufacturer Ritek always best burned. Burned I did the test blank with 6x speed, because I always achieved with all burners, all brands and all types of blank discs the best firing results, when I burn with more than three-quarters up at least half the printed maximum speed. This test result is thus already the best and can communicate with other torch marks and burn speeds actually be only worse:
Layer 1:
CPU load: maximum 6% (CPU: Intel Core i5 2.5 GHz)
PI Errors (PIE): a maximum of 23 per second (the DVD specification allows 280 errors per second)
PI Failures (PIF): a maximum of 2 per second (all to 4 faults per second is loud Gleitz DVD Forum "excellent" and "Opti Drive Control" shows innately all values up to and including 2 in a traffic lights system to green)
Jitter: maximum 10.9% (the DVD specification allows a maximum of 9%, such a low value but is rarely achieved by today's blanks, but this Xlyne blank reaches the 10.9% only briefly, most of the time moving even between very good and only 8 8.5% jitter)
Layer 2:
CPU load: maximum of 25%!
PI Errors (PIE): a maximum of 224 per second (directly after firing already slightly below the maximum allowed - are added small scratches, the allowable value of a maximum of 280 errors per second will be quickly exceeded)
PI Failures (PIF): A maximum of 31 per second and up to the last good 400MB at no time less than 14 errors per second (the Gleitz DVD Forum called everything from 12 errors per second as "acceptable" and everything from 16 errors per second as "sufficient", where there "sufficient" even the worst possible rating is; "Opti Drive Control" featuring innately all values above 7 in a traffic light color system red)
Jitter: maximum 11.8%
What do the terms PI Error, Failure PI and jitter mean and what have increased for impact values and what influences can further increase these values, I have already described in my detailed review of the quality really good DVD-Rs of Xlyne.
The error and jitter values of the first write layer of this blank are expected and Ritek typical almost fantastically well - if we disregard times of one, short, not really high drastic outliers when jitter. So if you only up to half (3.98 GB) burn these blanks, hereby has an excellent product. But clearly, it buys you no double layer blanks. The second write layer Ritek-typical high burned always a little worse, but rarely with more than 100 PIE errors per second and a maximum of 4 PIF errors per second is still at a fairly high level. The maximum 224 PIE error this Xlyne blank would have to get over and bring the user is no disadvantage if he is careful to these blank will not sustain scratches that would drive this value quickly in the air. The maximum of 31 PIF errors per second, however, are a bare imposition. Both my mediocre DVD of "DK digital" and my test winner DVD recorder from "Panasonic" both pause playback at the latest when a DVD has more than 20 PIF errors per second and considerably earlier is distortion, frozen images and artifacts during playback. Thus, these Xlyne blanks are entirely unsuitable for video recordings and all other, usually much more important data I would not trust this blank Reborn. In my entire life I have so abysmal DVD blanks only seen some time: If "Platinum" can produce its DVD + R DL discs from well-worlds poorest producers "MBI" (Moser Baer India) and you will be after burning approximately 1 year old has made, only then (already!) whose quality has dropped as far as the quality of these Xlyne blanks already exists immediately after firing.
The total number of PIE mistake of my Xlyne test blank is compared with a blank Maxell same type and manufacturer more than 4.5 times as high (2,168,111 to 472,008 errors 7.96 GB), the total number of PIF errors even almost 100 times higher (734 299 to 7,392 errors on 7.96 GB)! So you better stay away - The Money Pit for these blanks and this 1 star my vote already one too many! Who needs only 4.38 GB, would not hesitate to resort to single DVD-Rs of Xlyne. Those looking for good DVD + R DL discs, takes the best Verbatim - but be careful, this recommendation applies only to dual-layer DVDs Verbatim, because single DVDs from Verbatim are now long no longer what they used to be!
