This little book (180 pages he) reads with relish. Edgar Morin presents the philosophers who are most come into resonance with his thoughts, those who brought him the most inspirational and contributed to the development of his own thought, who structured. Philosophers are listed in chronological order, which therefore will Heraclitus (the Obscure) to contemporary scientific and ecological thinking. The author emphasizes the changeover, the "paradigm shift" that have made the current systemic and cybernetic thought the years 1960-1970, particularly from California, as well as changes in scientific paradigms that influenced in developing its "complex thought". Edgar Morin demonstrated a profound humanism, especially emphasizing the highly complex nature of the human psyche. Each philosopher, the author details the key ideas of their own, and how they fit into its own designs, it can then expose. We follow his intellectual journey, which happened in particular by Marxism before the Second World War, and then move away. Morin's complex thought can be compared to transdisciplinarity promoted by Basarab Nicolescu for example, which will be read with profit the book "We, the particle and the world." It may be useful to have at hand a dictionary of philosophy to clarify the thinking of some philosophers presented (I had to use for the passage of Hegel), but overall the speech is very clear and understandable. In short, I recommend this book to anyone curious philosophy, and wants to know more about Edgar Morin designs.
