Now, with the P900 has done a lot in these areas.
The operating speed is now almost on FZ1000 level, and also the AF is even at the full telephoto very quickly.
Also, the AF meets more often, than its predecessors. Actually he meets now hardly wrong, even in low light.
How did they manage it, really impressed me a lot.
What is a bit negative is that the AF in low light no longer focuses on focal lengths from 1800 to 2000mm. But may also be due to the Minimum focusing distance, the suspect right increases in such focal lengths. Which would in my estimation, are between 3 and 5 meters. By the by, I'm not quite sure where the fault lies here.
That there is no RAW at the P900, actually does not really matter, because the JPG Engine is very good. They exposed balanced, and with the standard settings, neutral and alive you get pretty much anything fried, since they can be adapted for example through the FN button quickly, still not in the event that sufficient example of a few in the contrast setting Neutral times should. So here again the contrast to 2 - scaled down 3 clicks, and there is hardly a contrast range, the no longer cope with the P900. One can also underexpose a bit and then it should really vote.
D-Lighting is very poor and thanks to the good Picture Styles fortunately also superfluous. The only thing that makes D-Lighting is off, remove the contrast and brightening, which basically leads to milky images, which is not exactly my goal. That they may leave simply in the form.
The details and the image quality can be even without RAW quite good influence in which one adjusts the focus, as you need it. The Auto setting the sharpening sharpens to a targeted and relatively unobtrusive. And if one takes the edge all the way back or just over to the car and the Neutral Picture Style used has almost always the RAW image. By the by ...;)
The ISO Auto is good and consistent. What to set the longest exposure time, an attempt is made by the P900 as far as possible at the lowest possible ISO values observed. Top.
The WB is also true mostly very good. Except in very special light (halogen, LED) and image sections it is sometimes completely wrong, and are (already in the preview) an orange image. Well, wenns nix worse on the P900 are ...
The camera is because of their size extremely well in the hand, quasi DSLR moderately.
The stabilizer is so-so. I myself can hold up to 1 / 30s, even with the extended telephoto. However, it is definitely better to choose the hours shorter because less blurry images here come out.
The video quality I think is also very good, and the picture enormously stable, because in addition an electronic stabilizer can be switched on.
Negative I noticed that the zoom motor can be heard quite loudly. In quiet environments, it would be better to zoom between the sequences.
All in all a super-shot by Nikon. An excellent device for focal lengths freaks!
