This approach is excellent at full aperture and up to 2.8 it has a depth of field with a tenuous sympathetic bokeh, one can even stammer macro or go with packshot.

Its relative softness 1.8 makes it good for portraits.

And as soon as one closes at f8, the optical solves VERY well, making it the ideal companion for a panoramic aimed Hother resolution (20 views covering a horizontal field of 100 °, in 2 rows of 10).
The only optical SLR market that would surpérieure it would Zeiss manual focus, we know the price ...
Summary: If your housing is motorized (F80, F100, D80, D90, D200, D300 and beyond), it's five stars deserved, go (and I'm not a fan Nikon ...)
For non-motorized enclosures, it remains the AFS 1.4 but the price is affected. At worst, looking AIS, but no AF 60 euros on occasion (-:
