Exceptionally good pop music

Native (Gold Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

1. Counting Stars: Irresistibly melodic prelude of 'Native'. Independent pop music of the Champions League. 5/5
2. Love Runs Out: This song is only available on the Gold Edition. With its pounding beat that song sounds unusually aggressive, almost warlike. The only similarity to the opener is the enormous originality of the song. 4.5 /. 5
3. If I Lose Myself Tonight: Now it's nice and toasty again. This mid-tempo song is just a perfect pop song. Point. 5/5
4. Feel again: First, quiet, but then it is bombastic and super melodic. Another grenade of pop song. 5/5
5. What You Wanted: Drums and vocals dominate this midtempo song. Quite melodic, but not enough variety. There is a lack of exploding chorus. 4.5 / 5
6. I lived: only acoustic guitar, then drums, then it gets really anthemic. Beautiful change from quiet and bombastic. In addition still very melodic. At the end there is an extra Ooo. Fine fine. 5/5
7. Light it up: Distorted guitars that sound like the song pretty dull. Pretty weird and bulky. The instrumental part at the end is okay and saves the song from total fiasco. 2.5 / 5
8. Can not stop: (for my ears) unpleasant falsetto vocals in the verse. In the refrain, he seems to screw his voice even higher. Melodic pretty bumpy. Before the song is over, I think to myself: Please stop! 1.5 / 5
9 Au revoir: Strings and Piano soothe me now first. The singing is very quiet. Can reconcile Correct me the song but not because all the catchiness (and variety) is missing. 4.50 minutes long. 3/5
10. Burning Bridges: First unspectacular midtempo song. But that changed quickly when the chorus comes. The fact is quite cool. 4.5 / 5
11. Something I need: Starts quiet, but then bursts the Melody bomb. And how! Sensational feel-good song. 5/5
12. Preacher: Beautiful beginning with strings, also the moderate verse please. The chorus is then really nice. Worn feel-good number with choir. 5/5
13. Do not look down: Short Outro. (Not rated)

Bonus:
14. Something's Gotta Give: Quite oblique beginning. As, unfortunately, soon it turns out, this was the (disappointing) chorus. The song is very expendable. 1.5 / 5
15. Life in Color: The chorus of the second bonus tracks One Republic give again some gas. But the song is not much better than okay. 3.5 / 5

Conclusion: Too bad that one in between (Tracks 7 9) makes a break from the melody. But even despite this weakness is 'Native' an exceptionally good pop album. And even these have less pleasing songs with the other (almost) perfect songs one thing in common: they are not 08/15-pop songs.

As for the bonus tracks (including three alternative acoustic versions of existing songs include) justifies only the decoupled as a single song 'Love Runs Out' buying the Gold Edition.
