I had never heard of leprosy in Greece, Crete especially here. It is a story absolutely beautiful and oh so sad at times, but also of hope. All details are carefully narrated: the expulsion of a loved one suffering from this terrible disease of leprosy. The mandatory deportation to the island of Spinalonga (which existed and that can still be visited today) which is feared more than anything, without knowing it; and yet, what a beautiful lesson of support from everyone there, to try to "survive" with this scourge, and organize a warm welcome to newcomers (unfortunately) more and more numerous. Gradually, the island will benefit from budget to improve everyday life: floral decoration of streets, seeds for their own vegetable garden, a cinema for entertainment, a generator for electricity, modernize also the only hospital in these places still overwhelmed, with only 1 doctor at the beginning of the continent that comes 3 times a week by boat. This novel full of truths, reads with a real intensity to the last page. The following days the remarkable reading this book, one realizes that still counts and still remembers this or that passage this masterpiece and was one wish is to share this story with other .... REALLY A CONSULTANT.
