My opinion about music review is always quite difficult, since known about taste can not argue. Nevertheless, I try a neutral assessment possible.
People who buy this disc? I think primarily long-time fans of Canadian singer and pianist. To whom I count myself also. And rightly so, we have high expectations - the bar has for Diana herself down. I have now heard by a day off and the disk twice today, but really she wants I did not like .. Somehow it touches me not know how it actually has always been the case with previous discs. Well, they are all cover versions and since one usually knows the pieces in the original, it does not do that for DK easier. Still, I would have liked more variance in instrumental playing, but unfortunately that is not the way. Everything sounds kind of a piece and almost always the same pace can be bored .. It therefore is not flat, who wants to listen, I realize, but in my opinion, is more suitable as a backdrop for a romantic getaway.
The vinyl itself is that the disk is brand new appeared in a completely incomprehensible state. The sound of this 180g plates that almost seem like shellac would be quite excellent, if not a lot of fine and coarse scratches it would .. Even fingerprints were on display. Maybe I was just unlucky and had one of the first "test-drives" the guys caught .. from the press shop;) ... Seriously, it did not work and I think it would be good if other your impressions about the LPs note here as a comment. Oh, the first of the two plates was also not clean centered and wobbled along with runout. Too bad!
Conclusion: both musically and by the quality of vinyl, I am disappointed. Diana can still sing, no question, and it sounds good so far but that's how I think, just not enough. In my view it should again "Back to the Roots", itself make music and play the piano. That was what made us fans.
