So - we come to positive about this record: It does what it should do an external hard drive - it stores data. not more. Unfortunately, I can see no further advantage of this plate, because:
1. The software:
That the seller has recommended to me this record because of the software, I feel as rough spoof - to say the least. The software is a joke! Each free backup software can do more. What is included is a mini version of the original software. This allows you to back up only the C drive. Maybe for some fine, in my C drive is only 100GB in size and home to just Windows and programs. Images, videos and documents I can not secure so with the software. For this, the software always reminds me, I would have not created a backup. Have deleted from the hard disk and removed from the autostart in the PC programs. Upgrading to the full version of the software costs around 45 far as I know.
Summary: Software total flop.
2. The level indicator:
Now we come to the advertised level indicator - and the lighting in general. The level indicator only works if the Seagate program runs in the background. Oddly enough, the display stands with me at 4 (ie full), though still neatly what is free. I do not know if all the software titles from Seagate for the full function must run - but as I'll never run unnecessary programs (such as the backup program) automatically in the background, this indicator does not help me.
In addition to the level indicator is still a round LED. This displays the status. However, she does not blink when she writes / reads and is also not on when the panel depends on power and is in standby - listen does make you feel, so they run.
Ergo: The with the level indicator in itself is a fun idea, but just a gimmick, I do not need and with ongoing software only works on a PC (not PS3 etc).
3. The replaceable stand:
One of the strongest arguments will probably be the interchangeable base, which allows you to upgrade the drive without any problems on USB 3.0 or Firewire etc. The change is also very easy and quick. But it is unfortunately so that these adapters over 40 costs and thus the whole plate in the offer was slightly more expensive. Either one should offer the same plate with a stand for election or make the adapter cheaper. If USB 3.0 has enforced the hard disks, too expensive.
Overall, the panel makes a good visual impression, looks elegant and is sure technically it has, however in my opinion, nothing special, which could lead to purchase this disc.
My final conclusion:
-Design: *****
Software: *
-Price: *
FEATURES: **
-Lieferumfang: **
-GESAMT: **
The extra cost is not worth it in my opinion, rather buy a cheaper board and the money saved - if desired - to invest in a reasonable backup software.
