Posted at the intersection of groove jazz, electro and funk early seventies, Marseille Troublemakers are very hard with this new album resolutely chic. Full of upscale references (Billie Holiday, Lester Young), "Express Way" is carried by a clever groove ternary with flutes, Fender Rhodes, in short, all the paraphernalia of vintage jazz of the late sixties and early 70s on which is superimposed an extremely subtle use of electronics, voice and bass funk collages. If Troublemakers will definitely invent anything, this new album is nonetheless an unquestionable success to recommend to all fans of E-jazz, acid jazz and even to amateurs, a genre that was believed dead but that this album sounds more than once
